The Economic History Association established the Society of Distinguished Fellows in 2019 to honor individuals who have made significant scholarly contributions to economic history. 

The inaugural class of Fellows, inducted in the fall of 2019, consists of all living former presidents of the Economic History Association.  Subsequently, at every annual membership meeting of the Association, the incoming EHA president will automatically become a Fellow.

Up to two additional Fellows may be elected each year.  Individuals must be living at the time of election to become Non-Presidential Fellows and are not required to be members of the Economic History Association. EHA members in good standing can nominate individuals to be Fellows. Nominations can be submitted through the EHA website at any given time, with the nomination process spanning from May 1st to April 30th.

All nominees will be forwarded to the EHA Nominating Committee entrusted with the task of curating a slate of candidates for consideration by the Electoral College of the EHA, comprising all living EHA Fellows and the EHA Board of Trustees.  Newly elected Fellows will be announced at the annual membership meeting of the EHA conference.
